![]() ![]() Harley comes into that world and she’s uncontrollable, and it drives him mad and he hates it.” I feel like we only see him there because he has to be somewhere that he controls. We only see him in his club, in his car, in his apartment. I think the hate came from when Ewan McGregor said this on an articleĪs for what makes him such a fitting foil for Harley, McGregor had an intriguing take: “I think that he’s an absolute control freak. It has 78% on RT with 6.73 out of 10 on RT and it has 60 on Metacritic, which are good in my opinion.Īnyway, I really enjoyed the movie, I think the story could be more meatier but I came to see women kicking names and taking asses and I got what I expected. I definitely don't think the movie should have been bound by the tone of past DC movies. Batman and Joker also exist in her world obviously but when watching it I didn't care in slightest whether it was Batfleck/Leto or if the movie was in its own side-world with its own versions of the characters. Harley is the narrator of the story, so the movie's world operates by her rules. One of the things I liked about BoP was that it did its own thing too, set its own tone, in the same way that a Harley comic doesn't feel like a Batman or Joker comic. And that's great, it's part of why each is so enjoyable - if each new movie was beholden to the tone of the previous we'd never have got a talking racoon and a walking tree. ![]() I'm a pretty big fan of the MCU and Marvel has always struck different tones in its movies the first Iron Man doesn't feel like a world where space gods like Thor exist, Winter Soldier doesn't feel like a world where the Guardians of the Galaxy can exist. This is the first DC movie I've enjoyed in years (though I didn't see Shazam). I don't really see why this is a problem, to be honest. The highlight of the movie was the egg sandwich lets be honest.įor me it felt so disconnected from anything didn't feel like we were in Gotham, didn't feel like this is a world were joker and batman both exist. The fight scene with the car that was in the trailers was better. ![]() I wasn't really into the slapstick nature of it, but maybe that's just me. The final fight scene was almost hokey at times. Really overall there was no nuance to any character's story. The cop's backstory felt a little rushed and overdone. The asian girl (pickpocket) was just a terrible actress in general in this movie, not sure what went wrong there but any scene with her in it was pretty bad. Huntress was badass but the 5 minutes of backstory they gave her didn't seem like enough. The other Birds of Prey didn't get the screen time and build up they deserved. One of the places where I felt like the direction and editing might have been subpar. I liked it in places, but at times I just wanted to watch the movie and the narration kept bringing me out. The narration by Margot was a little overdone. Go see Doctor Sleep if you want to see him knock it out of the park, that movie is criminally underrated. Ewan was not given enough room to really shine like he could. It felt like he was having fun in the role and had promise but they held the character back to make sure you knew he was an unstable asshole imo. I wish Ewan's character had more depth than being a misogynist asshole. Overall came out enjoying it but still pretty disappointed 6/10. I went into this movie expecting nothing from the bad reviews, but wanting to like it (love Margot Robbie as HQ). ![]()
